One-week workshops offer participants a place to further develop the acquired knowledge during the year. During that week there is a change of pace in which they take a break from the other specialties and intensify their work in the workshops to make the best out of it. The seven workshops are led by some of the most relevant architects and specialists in the field of collective housing. • Specialties
Each specialty seminar is coordinated by a technical director that relies on a group of architecture teachers and specialists from all over the world. Specialty seminars last 40 teaching hours aproximately, except for Housing Projects, Energy & Sustainability and International Activity, Real Estate & Management, which last twice the time. In any case, the approach is basically practical and complementary information is given digitally or on paper. Andrés Cánovas, Carmen Espegel, José  Ignacio Cortés, Bernardo Ynzenga, Consuelo Acha, Ramón Araujo, Enrique Azpilicueta, Julián Salas, Jesús Leal and Max Risselada are currently specialty directors at MCH.

• Presentation
The Master´s Degree in Collective Housing is a postgraduate course at the Universidad Politécnica of Madrid that arises from the fact that high-density cities and collective housing have a character of their own within advanced architecture education and therefore can be considered a specialty. Right from the start, students from all nations have been trained in collectivehousing- related specialty areas and have demonstrated a high professional level making important contributions in research projects, winning competitions or taking leadership roles in the most relevant architecture firms worldwide. MCH has always committed to the highest level of excellence combining teachers of international prestige and a thorough participant selection process in order to make the best out of this course. The specialties that are offered as part of our program are as follows: Housing Projects, Energy & Sustainability, Construction & Technology, Real Estate & Management, International Activity, Landscape & Residential Urban Planning, 20th Century Housing Theory, Basic Habitability & Low-cost Housing, and Sociology, Economy & Politics .

These areas are coordinated by major specialists in each field and are combined with seven workshops led by the most prestigious architects in collective and multi-family housing, with a teaching load of 35 hours. In the past years, MCH has built a close relationship with great architects such as Dietmar Eberle, Felix Claus, Anne Lacaton, Frits van Dongen, Hrvoje Njiriç, Juan Herreros, Edzo Bindels, Jacob van Rijs, Alejandro Aravena, Andrea Deplazes, Max Risselada or Wiel Arets, who are regular workshop leaders. The course is intended for qualified architects who have completed their bachelor´s degree or equal level certificate. The program consists of 600 hours (60 ECTS) from January to July, Monday trough Friday, every afternoon (16.00 to 21.00). • Internal Rules
It is compulsory to attend everyday classes unless justified, e.g. medical assistance must be submitted to the Secretary´s Office. Everybody will have a maximum of 5 minutes to go in the classroom before the class starts. Once the lecturer has started, students won’t have access until the break. Likewise students won’t be able to leave the class during a lecture. The use of mobile phones in the classroom is not permitted Laptops will be turned off and closed during theoretical classes. Smoking is not permitted inside the University buildings.

• MCH Library
There will be a library at students’ disposal. Books are to be used and enjoyed within the classroom, and taking them away will be considered a felony.

• Attendance
Signing the attendance sheet and leaving or signing on someone else´s behalf will be considered a felony.

• Information and Data
Additional supporting documents will be provided to all students on a weekly basis. Some teachers may not hand over written information about their conferences.

• Workshops
Every international architect directing a workshop has total freedom of designing schedule objectives and organizing teamwork. These workshops will be held in English and unless the architect specifically shows his/her concern, there will be a another teacher assisting him/her. The classroom is available to all students for teamwork during ETSAM working hours. MCH owns the right to manipulate and publish any project or work developed during the course.

• MCH-UPM Diploma Studies Required
To access the MCH Course you must have a University Degree in Architecture or equivalent. Those students who haven´t issued their Architecture Degree to the  Secretary’s Ofiice, will have to do so during the first two weeks of class. Students who have a foreign degree will have to present the following documents:

- Photocopy of University Degree with the Apostille of The Hague Accords or a stamp of the Spanish Embassy in their country (all stamps must be original).
- Photocopy of Academic Transcript for their Degree, also with the Apostille of The Hague Accords or a stamp of the Spanish Embassy in their country (all stamps must be original).
- Degrees, Certificates and Transcripts must be translated in Spanish. Spanish and EU students are exempt from these procedures. The former

• Specialties
The aims of the Specialties and their teaching approach are complex and have wide issues. To that sense, students will have to handle merging theoretical subjects with practical work, project deadlines and diverse teaching approaches.

• Employment
This Office will give support and help in their search for work to all the students with good efficiency demonstrated during the course.

• Course Withdrawak
If a student decides to quit the course by his/her own will, he/she will not receive any reimbursement of the registration expenses.

• Expulsion
Any behaviour noted by this Office as incompatible with the correct development of the course, will be punished with the student´s expulsion.

• Explanatory Note
The Master’s Degree in Collective Housing keeps its right to make any change in this Program.

• Management Team
The MCH Office is located on Floor -1, at ETSAM, next to the MCH Workspace in Classroom XG5. have to submit a photocopy of their University Degree and the latter a photocopy of their University Degree and Academic Transcript without the Apostille of The Hague Accords. All Degrees, Certificates and Transcripts must be translated in Spanish.

• Attendance
There will be a daily control of attendance. Students will be asked to sign a sheet and signature controls will be done from time to time to avoid cheating.

• Work Submittal
Students are obligued to carry out all the work and projects proposed. They will have to be submitted within the established deadline and cannot extend it. The final deadline will take place at the MCH Office during the morning. The level achieved by the student after the course, his/her personal interest shown and the quality of his/her work will be fundamental to receive the MCH Diploma.

• MCH Workspace
The course will take place in the new MCH Workspace (classroom XG5), on the X floor (floor -1) of the pabellón antiguo at Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura of Madrid, from 16.00 to 21.30. It will be open to students during university working hours. MCH Workspace is a fully equipped classroom where participants will have their own storage and working space, and internet wi-fi access. Students will have access to the IT Centre, located in the pabellón antiguo, X floor (floor -1) and to the Library, on 1st floor, in the same pavilion. No paper or modeling material will be supplied by the MCH office, unless previously agreed with the workshop leader or specialty director.

• Guided Tours and Trips
There are planned trips in Madrid and abroad, where buildings, subject of study, will be visited accompanied by architects and/or experts. Travel costs as well as hotel reservations, visits and shuttle buses are included in the tuition fee. Other personal expenses are not included. In previous editions, MCH has travelled to The Netherlands, France and United Kingdom. In 2011 our destination will be Switzerland, where participants will have a chance to experience at first hand some of the most relevant swiss housing buildings and meet their architects. MCH has established a collaboration agreement with ETH Zurich, where a series of activitites will be held during the trip.

• Preliminary Calendar
The course officially starts on Monday, January 10, 2011 and will run on a daily basis from 16.00h to 21:30h with a half-hour break. Whenever lecturers come from abroad this schedule may switch to the morning.  When the course starts, students will receive a Program and a preliminary schedule that will be updated every month.
