Se trata del edificio de una empresa que diseña, produce y comercializa productos textiles. El sitio es una parcela en esquina cerca de la ciudad de la moda de “Harajuku”.
El negocio se enfoca hacia la ropa femenina, por lo que conceptualmente el diseño del edificio es una metáfora de la belleza femenina, expresada a través de la identidad corporativa de la empresa.
Los elementos que confirman esta arquitectura son dos muros de superficie curva que dominan todo el espacio. Estas dos paredes conforman los accesos que conectan directamente con las calles a ambos lados de la parcela en esquina. Este camino, parecido a un estrecho callejón o al fondo de un barranco, lleva a los visitantes hacia el interior del edificio, a la sala de eventos del subsuelo y a las salas de exhibición ubicadas en el primero y segundo piso.

This is a building of a textile planning and trading company which handles the entire process from the production to retail.

The site is well located on the corner plot near the fashionable city “Harajuku”.

The client had been focusing on female apparel business, so the concept of our building design which is a metaphor of female beauty was suitable for them to put across their corporate identity.

The components that characterizes this architecture are the two curved surface walls which dominate the entire space.

These two walls form a shortcut path which connects the roads in front of each side of the corner plot. This path which looks like a narrow alley or the bottom of a ravine leads visitors inside the building, to the event hall in the basement and the showrooms on the first and second floors.

The curves used in the elevation surfaces on the north side and the east side represent those of a female body.

The graceful curved surface walls were created by connecting the curves with a straight line.

These curved walls are used as a motif of this architecture, and you can see them not only in the façade but also in the internal spaces on each floor.

La rehabilitación de un ferrocarril no operativo a través de medios sustentables se logra en este caso transformando la zona en un paseo marítimo que respeta las características ambientales de la región. El proyecto se centraren la seguridad de las obras del túnel en la ladera del arrecife, incluyendo la hidráulica. La obra abarca toda la antigua traza del ferrocarril y sus instalaciones entre Albissola y Celle Ligure (SV), transformándolo en un gran paseo peatonal con miradores y una nueva pasarela saliente hecha en acero corten y madera. La restauración del túnel ferroviario funcionará como un ”contenedor” para exposiciones e instalaciones artísticas.

Rehabilitating an inoperative railway through environmentally aware means, thereby transforming this area into a promenade that adheres to its area’s environmental constraints. This project would focus on the safety of the tunnel works on the reef slope, including hydraulics.

The project encompasses the entire stretch of the retired railroad and its fixtures between Albissola and Celle Ligure (SV) , transforming it into an environmentally accentuated pedestrian promenade. The project focalises the nature pathes, view points, a new overhang walkway made by corten steel and wood. The restoration of the railway tunnel will function as a “container” for visionary art exhibitions and artistic installations.

We designed this urban promenade without altering the identity of the area that for a strange paradox was maintained in a state of semi-abandoned for 40 years. The general objectives of the design on to the general issues were:
• Giving continuity to the pedestrian paths
• Increase the usability of the coastline
• Reversibility of the interventions
• Materials with low environmental impact
• Increase in public parks and redevelopment of the existing
• Development of tourism compatible.

The cost per square meter (true yardstick of public space projects) was very low in the face of complex interventions (including structural works, and on the sea) subject to constraint, the final high quality environment.
This is the result of setting design strategies that have always focused on the real change of boundary conditions, activation of the virtuous and the overall vision.
The materials commonly used, but simple “safe”, are confirmation of what you have preferred the complexity / articulation of space and the real usability of the new structures with respect to the richness of the decoration and trim. You are so ‘ obtained important results in terms of:
- Extension of the project area
- Achievement of results-not originally anticipated impact on economic activity and tourism
- environmental rehabilitation
- Construction of new routes (like the gallery, the first inaccessible).
All results that integrated and exceeded the objectives initially set by the entities involved in the process.

The curators are authors of well-known design events Ventura Lambrate® at Salone del Mobile; Ventura Berlin 2011 at Qubique, and collaborators of designers, companies and organizations, such as Maarten Baas, Kiki van Eijk, Nodus, Hermes, Cappellini, Swarovski, Louis Vuitton, Design Miami, Art Museum Tokyo and Moooi. According the curators BIO 23 will show fresh new ideas and explore how design relates to the social, the sustainable, and the cultural, while displaying crossovers between culture and commerce, crafts and industry. They will select the works to be exhibited from the submissions they receive in response to the Call for Entries. Designers, commissioners, producers, students and design organisations, from anywhere in the world, have time until 30 March 2012 to submit products, concepts and projects, from any area of design, which have been created in the past two years.

BIO Design Awards and international jury
The works exhibited at the Biennial will be competing, for the 23rd time, for the BIO Design Awards. The awards given at BIO represent recognition of quality in design. A jury comprising design experts Giulio Cappellini, Sven Jonke, Sophie Lovell, Jimmy MacDonald and Vasa J. Perović will present awards to the best of the exhibited design works. The BIO Gold Medal, BIO Green Award, BIO Honourable mentions, and the Award for a Student Work will be presented at the opening ceremony of the Biennial on 27 September. The BIO awards are given in accordance with professional standards set by the organiser and the international design experts who constitute the jury. The award-winning works will be included in the International Design Collection of the Museum of Architecture and Design.

New Developments with BIO 23
Preparations are under way for a fresh and exciting Biennial. With the aim of further modernising and internationalising the event, the Museum of Architecture and Design has invited the well-known curators and design promoters Margo Konings and Margriet Vollenberg of the studio Organisation in Design to collaborate with it on this year’s Biennial. Thus, in its 48th year, the Biennial exhibition has received a thematic concept and title and has expanded its scope to include all areas of design.

With BIO 23, the name of the event has changed as well: the Biennial of Industrial Design has become the Biennial of Design. Today it is clear more than ever that it is impossible to set limits on design; the different fields of design are overlapping, while one of the strengths of design is its ability to make connections and supplement its work both within the profession and with fields outside of it. The notion that design is one of the most responsive disciplines to social and cultural change has also informed the new developments in the content and organisation of Ljubljana’s Biennial of Design.
