This competition is part of a larger project for the reuse of Palazzo Castrone Santa Ninfa, in Palermo, where there are 29 themed bedrooms, 3 salons, a virtual museum, a lounge bar and a wellness center with solarium.
Suite d’Autore_art design gallery hôtel is a contemporary architecture work, and not only: it is an hotel, an art gallery, a laboratory to test and promote artists, a design exhibition and some more.
On the basis of the prototype, opened in Piazza Armerina (2007), in Suite d’Autore each work is carefully designed or chosen to illustrate a particular period or movement or trend or design approach. Consequently, these works (sculptures, photographs, paintings, objects of use, etc.) can be understood as communicative artifacts that express the theme and contribute to the definition of a harmoniously integrated environment: a large, extraordinary Suite d’Autore.
Suite d’Autore is a structure dedicated to hospitality, which has a cultural and educational meaning, full of tradition but also contemporary, it groups together as many forms of art as those of human talent.
So, compared to the comforts of a standard and accessories luxury hotel, Suite d’Autore is a Gesamtkunstwerk – a complete artwork – where each part is designed in harmonious relationship with all and based on the same aesthetic origin. This philosophy design, that characterized the Art Nouveau in XIX Century, relives today in Suite d’Autore, whose rooms are many (small) Gesamtkunstwerk.
