FOURTH EUROPEAN BIENNIAL OF LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE
23, 24 and 25 March 2006, Barcelona
Announcement
The European Biennial of Landscape Architecture has previously been held on three occasions, with the themes ?Refent paisatges? (Re-making Landscapes) (1999), ?Jardins insurgents? (Gardens in Arms) (2001) and ?Només amb natura? (Only with Nature) (2003). We are now pleased to announce the Fourth European Biennial of Landscape Architecture, which will be held on the 23, 24 and 25 March 2006 in Barcelona. It is being organised by the Barcelona division of the Official College of Architects of Catalonia, the Master?s Degree in Landscape Architecture of the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) and the Association of Friends of UPC.
The Biennial
The European Biennial of Landscape Architecture has always aimed to broaden the debate on landscape intervention, both from the point of view of landscape architecture and from that of other fields involved in studying and constructing the landscape. For this occasion we propose a more complex structure, in order to develop and diversify the contents of the symposium. The Biennial will be held over three days and will involve conferences, presentations, round table debates and exhibitions. The first day of the symposium will feature presentations by the finalists of the Rosa Barba European Award of Landscape Architecture on their cutting-edge interventions in Europe. The second day will be devoted to discussing a subject chosen and developed by the Biennial?s Commissioner, Catherine Mosbach. Lastly, the third day of the symposium will see an approach to the reality of another territory of interest, in order to analyse and debate its development.
Rosa Barba European Award for Landscape Architecture
We feel your participation in the Biennial will enrich the symposium and help us to keep our finger on the pulse of our profession. That is why we are asking you to accept our invitation to participate in the Rosa Barba European Award for Landscape Architecture and to present your interventions, which must have been built in Europe between 2001 and 2005. The works chosen will be featured in an exhibition, which will serve as the basis for selecting the winner of the Rosa Barba European Award for Landscape Architecture. A catalogue of the exhibition will also be published.
